Backstage Whispers overheard by Richard Andrews

David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross, set in the cut-throat world of Florida real estate salesmen, with Christian Slater, Kris Marshall, Robert Glenister, Stanley Townsend and Don Warrington, directed by directed by Sam Yates, will open at the Playhouse Theatre on 9th November.

Strictly Ballroom The Musical, adapted from the 1992 Baz Luhrman film set in the highly competitive world of Australian ballroom dancing competitions, directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, will play at the Piccadilly Theatre from 16th March.

Forthcoming productions at Hampstead Theatre, at Swiss Cottage, will include Sarah Burgess's Dry Powder, a comedy set in a public relations business in New York, directed by Anna Ledwich, opening on 1st February; and the recent Chichester Festival Theatre production of the musical Caroline, or Change, book and lyrics by Tony Kushner, music by Jeanine Tesori, about Civil Rights in 1960s Louisiana, with Sharon D Clarke, directed by Michael Longhurst, opening on 19th March.

On The Casting Couch: Jennifer Saunders, Samantha Spiro and Kevin Bishop will head the cast of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan, opening at the Vaudeville Theatre on 22nd January.

The autumn season at the Finborough Theatre, in Earl's Court, will include Keith Bunin's The Busy World Is Hushed, in which a minister and Bible scholar struggles with her faith when her estranged son reveals he is gay, directed by Paul Higgins, opening on 5th October; and Jerome K Jerome's The Passing Of The Third Floor Back, set in a Bloomsbury boarding house with some dubious residents over Christmas 1907, directed by Jonny Kelly, opening on 30th November.

La Soiree, the show that mixes cabaret, new burlesque, circus sideshow and contemporary variety, will return for a season at the Aldwych Theatre from 24th November to 3rd February, with additional family friendly daytime performances.

The premiere of Howard Brenton's The Shadow Factory, set in the Southampton factory set up to develop new aircraft technology during the Battle of Britain, directed by Samuel Hodges, will be the first production at NST City Theatre in Southampton, opening on 15th February.

New York TheatreNet: The recent National Theatre production of Tony Kushner's Angels In America, the tale of public and private lives during the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, with Andrew Garfield, Nathan Lane, Denise Gough, James McArdle, Susan Brown, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Amanda Lawrence, directed by Marianne Elliott, will be remounted on Broadway, opening at the Neil Simon Theatre on 21st March.
